Anchorball · Visual Language I
One visual language, two hands. Bold colour, exaggerated form, and emotionally expressive characters — rendered in sculpture and in paint.
The Language
Luminal Pop is the visual language at the heart of the Anchorball universe. It draws from popular culture, myth, and human emotion — translating them into saturated colour and exaggerated, character-driven form. It began in three dimensions, as glossy, high-colour sculpture, and now extends onto the canvas, where the same characters and the same chromatic intensity take on the texture and gesture of paint.
01 — The Idea
Luminal Pop is not a style applied to objects; it is a way of seeing. Every work begins with a character carrying a specific emotional charge, and the colour, the form, and the finish exist to amplify that charge until it is impossible to ignore. The result reads instantly — across cultures, across languages, across the distance of a public plaza. It is optimistic without being naïve, and playful without being weightless. Behind the gloss sits a genuine mythology: recurring figures who inhabit evolving territories and accumulate meaning with every new appearance. Continuity, not repetition, is the engine of the work.

02 — Two Ways In
The language lives in two bodies of work. In sculpture it becomes dimensional, glossy, and architectural — from collectible editions to monumental civic pieces. On canvas it becomes surface and gesture — the same characters and colour in two painterly registers. Choose a path below.
The Practice
Dimensional, glossy, and built to command architectural space. Stainless, composite, bronze, and hand-applied lacquer — from collectible editions to monumental civic works.

The Practice
The same characters and colour, now on the surface — in two registers: dimensional brushstroke works that push paint toward relief, and flat pop compositions with clean graphic fields and bold outline.
Enter Paintings →03 — One Language
Sculpture and painting are not separate practices here; they are two translations of a single idea. A character can arrive first as a glossy nine-metre form and later as a thickly painted canvas — or the reverse. What stays constant is the identity and the emotional charge. What changes is the surface, the gesture, and the way light behaves.
In Three Dimensions
Sculpture
High-gloss composite, mirror stainless, bronze, and hand-applied lacquer. The character occupies real space and holds a room, a plaza, or a harbour. Edition to monumental, indoors or out.
On the Surface
Paintings
Two parallel approaches: dimensional brushstroke works, where paint is pushed toward relief for physical texture and shadow; and flat pop compositions, with clean graphic fields, bold outline, and saturated colour.
The Universe
40+ characters. Ghost Mawse, Tommy Toucan, Bunni B, Petal Power, Willy, and a constellation of others — each with their own territory and emotional logic.
Visual Language II
The counterpoint to Luminal Pop. Raw steel, bronze, mass. Form as statement — no ornament, no colour, no character.
